Welcome to a part of MAGIS's aerial photographs collection. There are roughly 10,000 aerials available on this browsable directory. MAGIS is processing tens of thousands additional aerials and will be hosting them in the future. Visit MAGIS's Aerial Photograph guide for more information and for aerials not in this browsable directory. https://guides.library.manoa.hawaii.edu/aerials Many images are in excellent condition, while others are severely damaged. The aerial photographs collection was damaged in 2004 during a flood at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Library. There are also incomplete flight lines, missing images, and duplicate images. Indexes, flight line maps, and other documentation have been included when available. We've opted to include as much as possible and let researchers determine relevancy. Some aerial sets of the same mission or flight line are separated by the a name in parentheses, e.g. Majuro vs. Majuro (Alele). This may represent a set in a different format (e.g., PDF) or created by another organization. As we don't necessarily know how the set was compiled, and that some sets have accompanying index maps, we've opted to keep the sets in tact. Users will need to compare sets to get a more complete inventory and understanding of various missions, flight lines, and ultimately spatially contiguous geographic areas. Reconstructing the flight lines and identifying geographic areas has been challenging. If you find images that you think are not categorized in the correct geographic area, please let us know. If you are in possession of or know of additional sources of aerial imagery, please let us know or consider donating them to the MAGIS (Maps, Aerial Photographs, and GIS) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Library.
