Georeferenced Aerial Photographs, Northwestern Hawaii (Big Island)
In partnership with the National Park Service, Manoa MAGIS recieved funding to georeference approximately 60 aerial photographs of Ala Kahakai National Hawaii Trail (NHT) and Pu’u honua o Honaunau National Hawaii Park (NHP).The aerial photos were originally acquired by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the United States Navy in 1954, 1964-65, and 1976-78. The project included metadata creation and the files zipped for consumption in a GIS. QuickBird Orthoimagery dataset for Hawaii wasprovided by National Park Service and used as a control layer. Quick Bird imagery is in 60 centimeter ground resolution and projected in NAD 1983 UTM Zone 5N. Therefore all the aerial photos are in the NAD 1983 UTM Zone 5N projection.
Please check-off the first row in the first table here, to access the zipped files. Special thanks go to Sandy Margriter of NPS and Nargis Sultana of Manoa MAGIS for making this possible.
