Maps
Our Post-2004 flood collection of maps continue to grow. We will help you find maps that you
need for your research projects, professional needs and personal interests from our physical collection
or point you to where they might be available on-line. Generally, we ask that you e-mail us at:
mapcoll at hawaii dot edu with your request, or call us at 808-956-6199.
We will match you needs with
you request, get back to you and make an appointment to have you view them. We are available to
consult between 1 pm to 5 pm during Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment. We expect a 48 hour
notice with respect to your requests. Our materials are currently in different locations, and some
research is needed to retreive your materials or locate GIS data
We can, if the material allows us (i.e. if it is a sturdy copy) scan a low-resolution copy of the map, or copy it for you. A $5 copying fee is charged; there is no charge for scanning for UH-System users as long as the request is reasonable and commensurates with the teaching and research goals of the University. If you require the actual map, we will point you to vendors on-line.
Aerial Photography
We have Aerial photography of Hawaii from the 1950s to 2000. Once you find the image/s that you need using this viewer, you may download them yourself. Should you need full resolution tifs, we can provide them to you. You would simply need to furnish us with the unique identification number that is part of the basic metadata you view using the viewer. There are fees associated with this service. In this period of transition between offline and online aerial photographs, full resolution tiffs are available. Please download this file to make your request. You may also e-mail us at mapcoll at hawaii dot edu or call us at 808-956-6199 with your questions.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
We help users connect with GIS resources, including data, software, training and GIS jobs in Hawaii. ESRI data is currently available for on-campus users, The Manoa MAGIS center is open for business and houses three GIS workstations with ArcGIS Suite of software. You may use the center's resources during between 1 pm and 5 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment.
